"Online filing", 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

On August 14, 2013, the Argentine Trademark Office introduced the online filing of trademark applications, by means of which trademarks, renewals, responses to office actions and oppositions may be filed electronically 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

This new system is optional, as this online filing will coexist with the traditional proceedings of personal filing of briefs and forms at the Argentine Trademark Office.
Currently this new system is only available for trademark proceedings. However, gradually, all proceedings exclusive of the Trademark Office will be included.
This new online filing is available through the Trademark Office web page pursuant to the regulations in force and to the operative features set forth in the Trademark Office Resolutions Nos. P 266/12 and P 305/13.

By virtue of this new online filing, the Argentine Trademark Office is at the same level of the best Patent and Trademark Offices around the world.

On one hand, this new system also complies with policies aimed at reducing the use of paper and have a greater efficiency in the management of the Administration and support policies to make all procedures electronically.

On the other hand, it constitutes a milestone for the diffusion, promotion and development of industrial property matters throughout the country.

This new and completely electronic system gives way to many new possibilities, namely, when filing for a design or composite mark, the applicant may submit the electronic image identifying the mark in colors, audio files in the case of sound trademarks and videos in the case of motion trademarks, as well as all kinds of aspects possible through digital means. In addition, this new system seeks to provide the applicant with a comprehensive scope of protection to his intellectual rights, always bearing in mind the importance of this protection not only to the owner but also to third parties.
